First Practice Goes 2 Minutes Injury Free

April 1, 2007

BURLINGTON, MA - The first practice of the 2007 season went underway on April 1, 2007 during a perfect sunny day at Marvin Field. Practice started at 11:00 AM and by 11:02 the Dog Pound encountered their first injury.

During routine infield practice, Bill Tammaro decided to use his face instead of his glove to stop a line drive. "I hit a line drive directly at Bill, he didn't even have to move. He chose to let the line drive hit him directly in the face instead of use his glove. It was quite bizarre." said Bryan Riley to the media.

For you long time Dog Pound fanatics, you may remember Bill Tammaro's chronic problem with line drives while playing third base. He generally gets his glove on the ball, yet never squeezes it. He acts almost more like a goalie than a third baseman out there. "If this continues, he will be forced to wear a goalie mask while playing third. I can't risk such an injury with our wedding day quickly approaching." said Bill's fiancé to her wedding planner this afternoon.

Bill did however quickly return to action after icing his face. He is currently listed as day to day and his black eye should not limit him anyway over the next few weeks.

The remainder of the practice went well. "I saw some good things and I saw a lot of rust out there. Overall, I'm pleased and think with a few more practices we will be where we need to be. As long as we use our gloves to stop line drives instead of our faces, we will be alright." said coach Breslin to the media after practice.

The Dog Pound's next practice is scheduled for 1:00 PM at Marvin Field on Saturday, April 7, 2007.
