First Practice of the 2008 Season Was a Success
April 6, 2008
STONEHAM,
MA - The town of Burlington told the Dog Pound that they were unable to practice
on Sunday, yet that didn't stop the Pound from finding a way to get ready for
the 2008 season opener. The Dog Pound traveled to Stoneham to find a field to
loosen up and get in the proper softball mindset.
Today welcomed rookie phenom, Phil Luongo to the Pound. "I felt good out there. I'm ready to commit to this team." said Phil to the media. Phil Luongo has some big shoes to fill in replacing liberal loon Matt Gillis. "I think Phil will do just fine. He shares similar political views to myself, so post game drunken arguments with give me a much needed allie." said head coach Bryan Riley to a Fox News reporter.
Another
welcomed surprise to the practice was the solid play by Jason Guidi at the
plate. Guidi batted lefty and hit the ball with authority. Continual rants to
bat lefty finally acted out by the Guidogga and all were impressed. "That's it,
I'm batting lefty. I'm serious this time. I swear I'm gonna do it. Why the fuck
is it raining? I hate this state and I hate this fucking planet. I am going to
bat lefty though." ranted Guidi to some guy walking a dog.
The practice concluded with the annual trip to a Mexican restaurant to unwind and catch up. Luckily no injuries or black eyes were produced during the practice. The Dog Pound is planning on really stepping up the intensity during practice number two.
