Dog Pound Finally Defeats The Sweat Hogs
August 1, 2006
BURLINGTON, MA> The last time the Dog Pound lost a game was back on Will "The Thrill" Riley's birthday. June 14th or Flag Day was the last time the Dog Pound lost a game and it was to the mighty first place Sweat Hogs. Since the birth of Will "The Thrill" Riley, the Dog Pound has been undefeated. Is this a sign or just coincidence? Only time "Will" tell. The Dog Pound was simply out muscled in their first two match-ups yet tonight was different.
The Pound suffered a tough top of the first where the Sweat
Hogs seemed to be on fire, yet the Pound quickly responded in the bottom half of
the inning where they scored three runs. The Sweat Hogs fell apart though after
their
quick start, they only scored one run in the final six innings yet the Dog Pound
continued to chip away and add to their lead. "We
never gave up. No matter how much we are down we always believe we have a
chance. I actually dedicated this game to you. You are my sunshine when it
rains" said love sick Dan Doherty after the game to his girlfriend during
a forty minute phone conversation in the Verizon parking lot.
"What
is the Dog Pound?", said Ken Jennings when asked "The Hottest team in the
Burlington C League". "The Pound's streak can only be compared to the long
streak by Ken Jennings on Jeopardy. Ken was simply in the zone and obviously so
is the Pound", said long-time Dog Pound fan Alex Trebek. The Dog Pound's streak
has not put them in first place though. The Sweat Hogs currently remain in first
place, yet tonight's victory will only help close the gap.
Catch the Pound this Sunday at 5:00 PM at Rotary Field where the Dog Pound will take on Team Squid in an effort to lengthen the streak to seven games.
