Dog Pound Clubhouse Notes

August 19, 2006

BURLINGTON, MA> Although the long 6 game winning streak ended back on August 6th, a new winning streak seems to be developing. Two straight wins against The Ligers and The Master-Batters clinched the Dog Pound's play-off birth for the second straight year. Through 20 games the Pound's record stands at 12 wins and 8 losses. All of these recent streaks have found one common denominator, Will "The Thrill" Riley. Every game played since the birth of Will has been won when "The Thrill" makes an apearance. Likewise, games that he has missed has lead to a Dog Pound loss.  Is this coincidental or is he blessed with mystical ability to wake up the Dog pound bats.  Former Cleveland Indian Pedro Cerano had this to say, "Will now you own Jobu. Will like Jobu like bats. No Will, no power in bat. Seek the power of bat".

In other news, with only one game remaining the batting title is on the line. Only four points split Matt Gillis (.545) and Luke Lemelin (.541). "I should be the batting champ, I've been to every game unlike Gillis" said an angry Luke to the media. "It's difficult for me to make all the games. I try yet walks though the park with my wife, trips to the ice cream stand with my wife, Sex and the City marathons, and flag burning ceremonies all must take priority over a softball game. If they only had Lifetime on demand, I could make every game" said Matt Gillis to the media in reference to Luke's bold comments to the media. How will it all end? Will Gillis show up? Only time will tell.

Several records have already been broken including the hits record now held by Luke Lemelin with 40. The RBI record now held by Chris Doherty with 26. The runs record now held by Luke Lemelin with 34. The walks record by Chuck Doherty with 7. In addition, the infamous 30 Pack purchased record has been broken by Chuck Doherty with an unheard of six 30 packs. The previous record holders were Derrick "Master" Bates and Brian Curtain. "I'm obviously a little disappointed that my record didn't hold the test of time yet like I always say, You can only toast a toad once before you rattle your dipstick into the crust" said Derrick Bates in reference to Chuck's new record.

Catch the Pound's final regular season game this Wedsnday against FIDO. Will more record breaking performances take place? Who will win the batting title? Could Chuck add to his 30 pack record? See all this and more 6:15 PM ET at Mitre Field on August 23rd.
