Late Rally Continues Winning Streak

July 25, 2006

BURLINGTON, MA> A huge come from behind win lengthens the Dog Pound winning streak to five straight. In the top of the sixth, the Dog pound faced an 8 to 3 deficit. Yet the Pound found a way to tie up the game thanks to a huge opposite field base clearing single by Bryan "Red-Hot" Riley. "I saw Team Squid playing me to pull, so I slapped a line drive into right with the bases loaded. I knew what I had to do and I capitalized. It was a great win and I think it showed that we mean business this year" said Bryan Riley to a crowd of media after the game.

Matt Gillis also played well tonight, going 3 for 4 and getting the go ahead RBI in the top of the seventh. "I was happy with my performance, I only wish I could have shared this great experience with my beautiful wife. I plan on baking up some heart shaped cup cakes for her this evening so she too can enjoy the Dog Pound victory as well." said Matt Gillis to the Oxygen network.

In other game news, Chris Doherty played tonight to lengthen his iron-man streak to 35 games. Luke Lemelin kept his hitting streak alive with a six foot grounder to the pitcher during his last at bat, and Dan Doherty got career hit number 50. He became only the third Dog Pounder to reach this milestone. "I'm pumped that I finally got number 50 out of the way. I'm actually keeping the ball since I'm coach and all" said Dan Doherty.

The Dog Pound is currently the hottest team in the Burlington C league. The Dog Pound will finish the month of July with a perfect record. Although it is truly unknown what the standings are, the Dog Pound has to be in first place or second place. The Pound will face their nemesis the Sweat Hogs next Tuesday, August 1st. The Sweat Hogs have defeated the Dog Pound twice this year and they were the last team that defeated the Dog Pound. Every thing is set up to be a must see game. Come early to reserve a seat.
