Regular Season Ends With a Forfeit
August 24, 2006
BURLINGTON, MA> The regular season ends for the Dog Pound via a forfeit by FIDO. No call and no show. The fact that the game meant nothing for FIDO must have played a factor in their unexcused absence. "It really sucked that they didn't show up. We all traveled from all over the state and several left work early to make the game. The fact that not even one FIDO player appeared at the game demonstrates that this was a planned no-show. Uncool!!" said Dog Pound pitcher Bryan Riley.
Luke
Lemelin (pictured to the left) was also very upset with the no-show appearance.
Although the game was meaningless in regards to the
play-off structure, Luke Lemelin had a legitimate chance to win the
Dog Pound 2006 Batting Title, yet that chance was
forfeited like FIDO to Batting Champ Matt Gillis. "Matt should not be awarded
the batting title just yet. I got a hit back in game six that was marked an
error. Bull-shit. If this doesn't change, I may option to sit out the entire
play-offs to get what is rightfully mine. I'm serious." said Luke Lemelin to
WEEI during a telephone interview. Luke has got no support from teammates and
fans on his arguments. "Luke, shut the fuck up, weirdo." said generally composed
Dan Schuler to Luke.
The Dog Pound finished strong winning their last three regular season games and finished with a solid 13-8 record. 'No more non-sense Dog Pound. This is the real season, we all know what we are capable of. Now lets execute and leave it all on the field" said head coach Dan Doherty to his men after the last regular season game. Game one is scheduled for Monday August 28th at 9:00 PM at Marvin field. They will match-up in a best of three game series against the Black Sox. During the regular season, the Black Sox took 2 of three from the Dog Pound, yet all three games were decided by one run. This should be quite an exciting match-up.
