Dog Pound's Biggest Bat Takes 2008 Season Off
February 4, 2008
YOSEMITE
NATIONAL PARK, CALIFORNIA - Could this be true? Is
Gillis actually taking a year off? "While on vacation at Yosemite National Park
this past month, everything came together. Softball was so meaningless and so
diminutive in the grand scheme of things. Why play Softball, when Amber and I
can spend time conducting nature walks in places like Yosemite. I've realized
that I only live once and I can't continue to miss a game or two to walk in the
Dracut-Tyngsboro State Forest anymore. I must miss the entire season to travel
to exotic places like Yosemite or Harold Parker. Yes I will replace my softball
cleats for a new pair of sandals." said Matt Gillis to a heard of frolicking
chipmunks.
Matt
has arguably been the most productive hitter over the past three seasons. He has
the highest career batting average in Dog Pound history with a .477 clip. He
would probably top several other categories if not for his frequent nature walk
escapades during scheduled softball games.
Where does the Dog Pound go from here? It's obvious several players will need to step up and a new player will have to be signed to a one-year contract. Every other player from the 2007 squad is expected to return for the 2008 season.
Gillis will be truly missed during the 2008 season. Keep posted to to read more about Matt and Amber's adventures in the wild throughout the season.
