Dog Pound Crushes The Weekend Warriors 21-8

May 30, 2007

BURLINGTON, MA - The sixth game of the 2007 campaign offered an offensive explosion highlighted by a 13 run 5th inning against the Weekend Warriors. The game also broke three Dog Pound team records including most runs scored in a game and most hits and runs in one inning.

On Chuck Doherty's 30th birthday, he took the first pitch thrown of the game and hit a stand-up inside the park homerun. Chris Doherty, later that same inning hit a slow grounder in which he hopped down the baseline like a kangaroo.

In the bottom half of the inning, pitching ace Bryan Riley couldn't find the plate and walked several leading to 5 runs to start the game. The Dog Pound did however rebound and the bats came alive.

So here they stand after the first 6 games in the B league, with a 3-3 record. Chuck Doherty continues to age like a fine wine, improving at the plate in each new season while consistent solid play by Matt Gillis and Luke Lemelin continue to shine in the early season. Billy Tammaro and Dan Doherty still haven't found their 2005 swings, yet most believe they will come around as the season progresses.

The Dog pound hopes to get over the Mason-Dixon line on June 5th as they battle the Sweat Hogs at home.
