First Practice of 2006 for the Dog Pound
March 11, 2006
BURLINGTON, MA> On Saturday March 11, 2006, the Dog Pound held the first practice of the 2006 season. 68 degree weather and high motivation prompted this little session. Participants were head coach/ left fielder Dan Doherty, assistant coach/second baseman Jason Guidi, pitcher Bryan Riley, shortstop Luke Lemelin, Ex-Pounder Bill Tammaro, and A league superstar Steven Howard of the Pipe layers. "It was quite a site, swinging for the snow banks in left field" said pitcher Bryan Riley.
It was a last minute practice, that is why so few attended. "I'm making this strictly voluntary" said head coach Dan Doherty to WEEI when asked why so few attended. Matt Gillis prompted to walk through the woods with his wife, Chris Doherty had to focus his efforts on wrestling, and Chuck Doherty was unable to participate due to injury. No others were notified due to such short notice.
"We're looking OK. I expect more practices in the near future" said assistant coach Jason Guidi to the local media after practice. During practice long bomb home runs were hit by Luke Lemelin, Dan Doherty, and Steve Howard. Not too shabby for the first practice of the year.
