News From Mr. Softball Dude

BURLINGTON, MA>
The Dog Pound’s version of Mr. Softball Dude, shortstop # 41 Luke Lemelin got
his long awaited call to play for the A-League Pipelayers this past Sunday, on
a hot as hell day. When asked to play, he was like, “its about fricken time
they called me !! I don’t give a care how hot it is out there, I’ll play in a
fricken
blizzard if I had too. I played earlier for the best damn team in the whole
universe, the Goodfellas. No one can beat them. They would crush the Red Sox
in an exhibition game. If I can play with them, I can play for anyone. I
know I’m on 3 teams this year and have now played for a half a dozen teams so
far this season, but I want the record for most games played in a single year
!! I’m looking into the fall and winter leagues damn it, I can’t get enough.
That’s what I like to do and that’s what I do best, eat wings, pound beers,
get Evansed, and play softball.”
In
his debut for the Pipelayers he went 1-3 with 2 RBI. But what was most
impressive was his play on the field in an uncharacteristic role, NO HE DID
NOT PLAY 1st , he will be the 1st too admit that his
midget-ness is way too overwhelming and people would have trouble even seeing
him on the bag. So when the team ran out to start the game they had a
dilemma. Who the hell is going to pitch ?? Lemelin simply said “Give me the
fricken ball !! I can pitch.” At first they were hesitant and laughed. But
after he got irritated and started to flex his muscles (he almost turned
green) they let him pitch. Soon after a perfect 1st inning they
knew he was the right guy. Overall he gave up only one walk and 5 runs in an
emergency start. They were so impressed with his outing, that they are going
to give him another start again this Wednesday before the Dogpound’s game.
Lemelin stated “I’m not surprised by my performance. I’m Mr. Softball Dude,
what do you expect ??”
So it looks like the Dog Pounder’s may have a very much needed weapon in their arsenal in the bullpen. Is there anything # 41 can’t do ?? one thing is for certain, he can play anywhere and everywhere for anyone. Catch the Pound’s next game this Wednesday 7:45 @ Marvin Field and see what’s up dude.
