One Game Remaining For The Dog Pound
August 21, 2007
BURLINGTON,
MA - One game remains for the under-achieving Dog Pound in the 2007 season. "We
came in with high hopes early in the season, yet we bleeeeewwww it" said an
angry Luke Lemelin after the Pound's pitiful 12-2 loss. The Dog Pound now stands
with a 7-13 record. A loss on Wednesday could ultimately lead to a demotion back
to the C league.
"Where did the Pound go wrong? How could this happen?" were voiced around the water coolers and on WEEI all season, yet what is the actual answer. The most popular reasons are listed below:
| 2005 | 2006 | 2007 | |
| BATTING AVERAGE | .411 | .407 | .423 |
| RUNS SCORED P/ GAME | 10.1 | 11.32 | 9.0 |
Well the last game should be interesting. We have a tight batting title raise which will be determined after the final game. Chuck Doherty currently stands with a .481 batting average while rookie Ian Race is close behind at a .479 mark. Additionally, Dan Doherty looks to add to his record setting walks and doubles single season records.
With
the batting title on the line, and an unconfirmed 2007 MVP yet to be named, the
final game should have some significance. Tickets are readily available for the
final game. Tickets for the Pound have been going as cheap as a nickle with no
takers over the past month. Additionally web site traffic has dropped 40%. The
Dog Pound is hurting and needs strong fan support for their final game.
